MORE INFORMATION

Tour Schedule - Day 1

Our journey begins with the exciting task of outfitting everyone with camping gear and getting to know ourselves as we board the night train from Stockholm, setting our course northward to the High Coast of Sweden (Höga Kusten). Travelling by sleeper train ensures we're well-rested for the adventures ahead.

Tour Schedule - Day 2

Early in the morning, we disembark the train and jump on a brief bus ride to reach Skulleskogen National Park, where our hiking expedition begins. Throughout the day, the knowledgeable guide leads you through the picturesque forest, unveiling the area's highlights. By late afternoon, you arrive at the coast, establishing camp for the night. Here, we cook dinner on an open fire and enjoy some storytelling. We eagerly anticipate glimpses of the northern lights (of course, we need some luck to do so). For the energetic souls, there's the option to explore parts of the coast (without the heavy backpack) before nightfall.

Tour Schedule - Day 3

Following yesterday's exploits, we relish a leisurely start to the morning, savouring breakfast and coffee against the backdrop of breathtaking campsite views. Our journey continues with further exploration of the highlights of Skulleskogen National Park (we try to reach Slåttdalsskrevan), culminating in our second forest campsite. After dinner, exhaustion from the day's adventures likely ushers in early slumber, preparing us for tomorrow's early rise.

Tour Schedule - Day 4

We start this day early by hiking the short way back to the bus station where we arrived two days before and start our trip back to Stockholm. As this train goes during the daytime, you have the chance to enjoy the landscapes that the Swedish countryside has to offer.

When planning your multi-day hiking tour in Höga Kusten, it's essential to be prepared for varying weather conditions throughout the year. Each season brings its own unique climate and characteristics, influencing your hiking experience in different ways. Spring In spring, temperatures typically range from 5°C to 15°C. The weather can be quite variable, with sunny days, occasional rain showers, and cooler mornings and evenings. Be prepared for rainy days, which can create a moody atmosphere but also enhance the vibrant colors of nature. Summer Summer offers the warmest weather, with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 30°C. Expect longer days with plenty of sunshine, perfect for extended hikes. Occasional rain showers are possible, but overall conditions are pleasant and ideal for hiking. 2. What clothing should I bring?

Prepare for your 4-day Höga Kusten hiking and camping tour with clothing suitable for all seasons. Dressing in layers is key: start with a moisture-wicking base layer, add an insulating mid-layer, and top it off with a waterproof outer layer. Quick-drying pants, preferably convertible, and a lightweight waterproof jacket are essential. For colder weather, pack thermal underwear, a fleece sweater, a warm hat, gloves, and a scarf. Sturdy, waterproof hiking boots with good ankle support and extra warm socks are crucial. For sunny days, include a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Additionally, bring a small backpack for essentials, a rain cover, and trekking poles for stability. With the right gear, you'll be ready for any weather and enjoy your 4-day Höga Kusten hiking and camping experience.

3. Where can I leave my luggage?

Remember to maintain a respectful distance from all wildlife and avoid disturbing their natural habitat. Our guides will help you identify different species and share interesting facts about the local fauna.

7. What is the right to roam?

Sweden's unique "Right to Roam" (Allemansrätten) allows everyone to enjoy nature freely, with certain responsibilities. This right means you can hike, camp, and explore the outdoors without needing special permission, as long as you respect the environment and landowners. Key principles of the Right to Roam include: - Respect Nature: Do not disturb wildlife or damage vegetation. Stick to marked trails and avoid trampling on sensitive areas. - Leave No Trace: Take all your litter with you and leave the area as you found it. This helps preserve the natural beauty for others to enjoy. - Respect Private Property: You can pass through private land, but avoid walking too close to homes and respect privacy. Always close gates behind you. The Right to Roam is a cherished part of Swedish culture, allowing everyone to experience and enjoy the beauty of nature responsibly.
